How to Write a Thesis Statement for an A-Plus Paper?

A thesis refers to a model or idea that is conveyed as a statement and discussed logically.

Guidelines for Writing Thesis Statements

  1. Identify the type of paper you are writing:
  • An analytical breaks an issue and idea into component parts, examine idea and issue and provides this breakdown and examination to the audience.
  • An expository paper describes something to the audience.
  • An argumentative paper provides claim concerning the topic and validates this claim with specific evidence.
  • The claim includes an opinion, policy suggestion, an examination, cause-and-effect statement and interpretation. The purpose of the argumentative paper is to persuade the audience that the claim is factual based on the evidence offered.
  1. In case the writing text fails to fall under these categories, the thesis statement can be found in the first paragraph and is still helpful to the reader.
  2. Thesis statement should be specific and should cover what has been discussed in the paper. Specific evidence should support the thesis statement.
  3. Thesis statement should appear towards the end of the paper`s first paragraph.
  4. Thesis statement should reflect what has been written in the paper.
